Students build a playful “waterbug” robot by integrating electronics, coding, and fabrication. Using an Arduino microcontroller, sensors, servos, and a custom chassis, they learn how hardware, software, and mechanical systems work together. The session provides a hands-on introduction to mechatronics and environmental sensing, with each student taking home a working robot they programmed and assembled themselves.
The Austin STEM Center (ASC) is a central hub for hands-on STEM learning in the Austin community. We support FIRST Robotics teams, provide a facility for pre-workforce development, host community-led classes, and is home to Austin School for the Driven. Our classrooms and maker spaces are tools to bring people together to learn, build, and share knowledge. ASC is not a school — it’s a community resource designed to support and amplify STEM education.
We have established partnerships with leading educational institutions and organizations around the world. These partnerships allow us to offer our students unique opportunities such as study abroad programs, internships, and research collaborations. We are proud to be part of a global network of educators and learners who share our commitment to quality education.
